Basic fitness requirements:

Experience: Previous trekking and camping experience is a plus.

Physical preparation: Engage in regular physical activities such as yoga, swimming, hiking, jogging, stair climbing, or gym workouts.

Fitness criteria:

• Run 3km continuously in under 30 minutes.
• Climb 5 floors without feeling short of breath or dizzy.

Age range: 16 to 70 years old, with good overall health and regular physical activity. Those with prior trekking experience will find the tour more manageable.

Tu Lan Cave Expedition involves long trekking distances, rocky terrain, steep hills, and swimming sections. The safety policy allows the tour leader to assess your ability on Day 1 and escort participants out of the jungle if conditions require.

Detailed Itinerary:

07:30 – 08:00: Pick-up from your hotel in Phong Nha and transfer to Truong Sa Tourist’s office in Tan Hoa. Here, you'll receive a safety briefing, sign the release form, and collect your personal gear.

Begin the journey by trekking 2.5km through lush meadows. After crossing the Rao Nan River, you'll enter Rat Cave. Enjoy a picnic lunch inside the majestic cavern, a rare and thrilling experience. Then continue trekking through the cave to marvel at the stalactite formations.

Next, hike 30 minutes through La Ken Valley and tackle the day’s most challenging part—scrambling up the rocky Lom Com slope. After the final ridge, the grand Tu Lan Valley welcomes you with a roaring waterfall beside the cave entrance. This is where you’ll camp for the night—bathe in the stream, unwind, enjoy a local dinner, and sleep under the stars.

Start the day with a hearty breakfast before heading off to explore three stunning caves: Ken Cave, Tu Lan Cave, and Kim Cave.

First, swim into Ken Cave—one of the most beautiful river caves in the system. Return to the campsite for lunch, pack up, and head into Tu Lan Cave. Admire its giant, ornate formations and pass through to emerge in a picturesque valley. Hike through pristine jungle to reach Kim Cave for more underground swimming and waterfall views.

Arrive at To Mo Valley to set up camp for your second night. Relax, dine, and enjoy the untouched surroundings.

Start your final full day with a challenging hike up to Song Oxalis Cave—home to the most extraordinary coral-like formations in the entire cave system.

After snapping incredible photos, descend back to To Mo Valley for a quick snack before swimming through Hung Ton Cave. Inside, climb a 15m ladder with harnesses to reach the exit. Trek back through the green meadows and cross Rao Nan River to return to the starting point.

Check into Tu Lan Lodge for a warm shower and a well-earned rest.

At around 18:00, cycle to a local home in Tan Hoa for a traditional dinner and cultural exchange. Return to the lodge to relax overnight.

Wake up to a peaceful morning with mist swirling around the hills. Enjoy a warm cup of coffee and a sunrise over Tan Hoa’s farmlands.

Savor a delicious breakfast with Western and Asian options at Tu Lan Lodge. Optional: cycle around Tan Hoa village to explore its tranquil roads, cornfields, peanut farms, and livestock areas. Visit a local honey farm, learn about the VAC (garden-pond-livestock) model, and taste boiled corn, roasted peanuts, and ginger honey tea.
