Da Nang Aims for Tourism Resurgence in 2024

02/01/2024

Da Nang’s target is to break the record of the city’s tourism industry, aiming for the explosion of international tourism in 2024. After a year of recovery and exceeding improvement, in 2023 Da Nang has made a huge progress as the number of flights was forty thousand, and the total of travelers who visited this city had reached 6.8 million.

This brings a positive vibe to the locals, as 2023 is considered the best year of tourism since the pandemic. The number has also shown that Da Nang is approaching its own record in 2019 before the covid outbreak. 2019 is the year that received the highest number of tourist arrivals in the history.

Thanks to the quick adaptation and the precise re-definition of tourism activities by the government, in just a few years, Da Nang is back on track, achieving 85% of the scale of 2019 - the greatest year of tourism. In the new year of 2024, Da Nang is continuing to welcome more tourists arriving to the city.

Within just one day, there are already more than a thousand to arrive in Da Nang. This has shown a positive year ahead. There is no overstatement at all if we are looking for an exploding year of tourism in 2024. Da Nang is preparing everything to welcome you.

On the morning of January 1, the Department of Tourism of Da Nang City organized to welcome the first tourists to visit Da Nang City on the occasion of the new year 2024.

At the domestic arrival terminal of Da Nang International Airport, the city’s tourism industry welcomed flight VN 157 of Vietnam Airlines bringing nearly 140 passengers from Hanoi to Da Nang. Next, at the international arrival terminal, the Department of Tourism continued to welcome more than 140 passengers on flight number VJ 881 of Vietjet from Incheon (South Korea) landing at Da Nang airport.

This afternoon, there will continue to welcome flight VN 319 from Narita (Japan) operated by Vietnam Airlines, with 154 Japanese passengers. The ceremonies took place solemnly with artistic performances to welcome, give flowers and gifts to the passengers, especially giving flight vouchers to lucky passengers who won the lottery. The passengers were also given conical hats, free photo check-in and instant printing services at the terminal to commemorate the moment of welcoming the new year 2024 in Da Nang.

According to statistics from the Department of Tourism of Da Nang City, air travel is still the main source of tourists for Da Nang. In 2023, Da Nang welcomed more than 40,000 flights, estimated at 6.3 million passengers, an increase of nearly 1.5 times compared to 2022 and recovered to nearly 82% compared to 2019 (the year with the highest number of tourists before the Covid-19 epidemic).

After the Covid-19 outbreak, air travel recovered quickly, with 7 domestic routes with 51 flights/day and 16 international routes with 49 flights/day.

On the first day of 2024, Da Nang International Airport welcomed 112 domestic and international flights, estimated at more than 15,500 passengers, of which 50 international flights accounted for more than 50%. In general, in the 3-day New Year holiday 2024, the total number of domestic and international flights to Da Nang will be about 434 flights (up 10% over the same period last year) with an estimated 65,000 passengers (up 14% over the same period in 2023).
