Hue is one of the top 25 worldwide cultural destinations

04/04/2024

Hue is ranked eighth out of the top 25 cultural places in the world based on reviews left by travelers on Tripadvisor.
Under the Tay Son and Nguyen dynasties, Hue served as the capital of Vietnam. Many of our nation's cultural traditions are still preserved in Hue, which is still one of the main tourist destinations and cultural hubs of the nation.

Treasures of culture, both tangible and intangible

Hue has an extensive system of material cultural assets. Almost a thousand relics, both religious and historical, are scattered throughout the old city of Hue. Additionally, it is a location that is home to several Vietnamese cultural icons. The most well-known and characteristic of these is the Hue Monuments Complex, and Hue Royal Court Music has been included in the UNESCO World Cultural Heritage list. UNESCO has also designated the Nguyen Dynasty Woodblocks, Imperial Records, and Poetry on Hue Royal Architecture as Documentary Heritage.

Hue's traditional artisan villages with their beautiful items are among its most notable attractions. Some outstanding products include: My Xuyen sculptures, Phuoc Tich ceramics, Thanh Tien paper flowers, Lang Sinh folk paintings, etc.

Hue is well-known for its food in addition to its traditional artisan villages. The food culture of Hue is distinct from that of other areas. For the Hue people, food is not just something to be consumed but also an artistic creation. Hue cuisine demonstrates very clearly the elegance and flair in the preparation and consumption of Hue foods.

Intangible cultural qualities, including performing arts, costumes, customs, fine dining, and food, are also abundant and varied in Hue. UNESCO has designated Hue Royal Court Music as an intangible masterpiece of humanity. In recent years, Hue's cultural forms have been focusing on restoration and preservation in order to promote and expand cultural tourism in the area.

The preservation, restoration, and development of Hue cultural values is aggressively encouraged in order to maintain and preserve the country's traditional cultural values.

Land of Festivals

Hue is known as the Land of Festivals," with approximately 500 distinct great and minor festivals, including royal, traditional, and religious festivals, that have existed for a long time and are related to the cultural values of this location. The Hue Festival and Traditional Craft Festival are conducted alternately, featuring a variety of remarkable cultural activities paired with active cultural exchange activities that have helped to elevate Hue culture's status both nationally and globally.

Over 100 folk and traditional festivals have been maintained and developed to meet the community's cultural pleasure demands. Typical examples include the Hue Royal Festival and cultural and religious festivals such as Buddha's Birthday, Hue Nam Palace Festival, etc. The festival commemorates the tutelary gods and craft village masters, as well as many other festivals such as the Huyen Tran Temple Festival and so on.

The Hue administration is now focusing on the preservation and protection of cultural heritage values. It may be stated that the land of Hue has and continues to keep its cultural values.
