Which domestic destinations are Vietnamese travelers searching for the most this Lunar New Year 2024?

Surpassing beach and island destinations, cool highland cities have become the most sought-after place for Vietnamese travelers this Lunar New Year 2024.

Da Lat, Nha Trang and Da Nang rank the top 3 most searched destinations during the Year of the Cat thanks to the harmonious combination of magnificent natural landscapes, dreamy beaches and unique cultural heritages. 

For Vietnamese, Lunar New Year is a time for family reunions imbued with long-standing customs and looking forward to a hopeful new year ahead. It is also when Vietnamese return to their homeland not only to reunite with loved ones but also to travel together and create unforgettable memories welcoming the new year.

Booking.com, one of the world’s leading online travel companies, has just announced the list of 10 most popular domestic destinations this Lunar New Year. The list is based on search and booking data from February 8-14, corresponding to December 29 to the 5th day of the new year.

Beach vacations remain the top choice for Vietnamese and foreiner  travelers. According to Booking.com’s survey, travelers tend to look for cooler destinations to avoid the heat, with 82% of respondents saying they are focused on water-related activities this year. This demand is reflected in the top 10 most searched domestic spots featuring 6 out of 10 beach destinations like Nha Trang, Da Nang, Vung Tau, Phu Quoc, Mui Ne and Hoi An.

Besides beaches, Vietnamese travelers also flock to vibrant cities like Ho Chi Minh City, Hanoi, or the ancient town of Hoi An, the rolling terraced rice fields in Sapa. 

The top 10 destinations searched by Vietnamese this Lunar New Year 2024 are: Da Lat, Nha Trang, Da Nang, Vung Tau, Phu Quoc, Ho Chi Minh City, Mui Ne, Hanoi, Sapa, Hoi An.
