Originally known as Truyen Dang Son (Shining the Light Mountain) or Roi Den Mountain (Black King Mountain). Bai Tho Mountain (Poem Mountain) earned its new name in 1468, when King Le Thanh Tong visited the mountain and was so captivated by the mountain’s beauty that he had a poem carved on the cliffs to praise its beauty, hence the name “Poem Mountain.” Throughout the centuries, additional poems were added to the cliffs, and today, nine poems can still be seen.

Besides its poetic significance, Bai Tho Mountain played a crucial role in various historical events. It served as a strategic location for watchtowers and lighthouses, aiding in the resistance against the Mongol Yuan Dynasty and the American War. Here, tourists can not only learn about the history and the cultural significant of the poem that were left here, but can also admire the unique rock formation and lush vegetations that are on the mountain while hiking up to the summit where they can relax and enjoy a panoramic view of Ha Long Bay.

 

Quang Ning Museum

 

Located along the coastline of the eastern part of Ha Long City, the Quang Ninh Museum is considered a remarkable cultural landmark and the first official museum built in Quang Ninh Province.

 

The glass exterior of the building is a deep black color, resembling a giant mirror reflecting the image of Ha Long's sky and sea, leaving a lasting first impression on visitors. The museum consists of three floors, each depicting the fundamental and distinctive aspects of Quang Ninh's land. In contrast to the dark exterior, the interior space primarily features white color, aiming to highlight the exhibited artifacts.

The first floor of the museum is dedicated to the theme of the ocean and nature, showcasing large skeletons of whales and sharks. Moving up to the second floor, visitors will encounter significant historical artifacts from prehistoric, ancient, and modern periods.
